I’m the photographer behind Nature Frame HQ, and I believe the best images come from being present, patient, and a little bit muddy.
This site is where I share honest gear reviews, field-tested photography tutorials, and trail stories from more than twenty years of hiking and shooting across America’s wildest landscapes. My hope is that something here sharpens your skills, lightens your pack, or at least makes you want to lace up your boots and head outside. 🥾 📷
How I Got Here
My journey in wildlife photography began more than 20 years ago on my first trip to Yellowstone National Park. Digital cameras were still a new thing — and I had no idea what I was doing. I came home with hundreds of photos of everything that moved, and absolutely no clue how to edit, save, or share a single one.
Over the years, my gear got better. My lenses got sharper. But the real change was what I learned to leave behind — the urge to capture everything, and the patience to wait for the one shot that matters. I’ve hiked trails in more than 50 national and state parks. I’ve camped in more than a few. I’ve photographed birds, bears, bison, lizards, wildflowers, and landscapes from Death Valley’s desert floor to the 12,183-foot summit along Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountains .
And of all the places I’ve been, I return again and again to Yellowstone. That’s where I first learned that the best photo isn’t always the one with the sharpest focus — it’s the one that brings you back to the moment you almost missed. 🌅 🦅
